In this hands-on presentation at 2018 Training Magazine Conference in Atlanta, Founder Michael Getz and Senior Learning Architect Jean Marrapodi walked learners through what makes a good rubric, and how rubrics might be leveraged in corporate training. The presenters gave learners the opportunity to construct their own rubrics, paying particularly close attention to aligning goals and outcomes with learning objectives. In this case, Getz and Marrapodi asked that groups construct a rubric based on baking a blueberry muffin. The presentation happened to present an opportunity for unexpected learning – one of the audience members from Taiwan did not know what a blueberry muffin was — reinforcing the idea that knowing your learners is a key to their success.
